Pembrokeshire offers holiday makers a vast array of attractions in addition to those mentioned in other sections of this website including forest trails, cheese makers, museums, wildlife centres, waterfalls, gardens, honey farms, vineyards and markets. Pembrokeshire Arts & Crafts
The spectacular scenery of Pembrokeshire has long been a magnet for artists and the area is now well known for its wealth of creative talent. The whole of Pembrokeshire seems to be dotted with creative works for visitors to admire or buy. Newport itself has The Carningli Centre offering art and antiques for sale whilst Workshop Wales Art Gallery in Manorowen near Fishguard will guarantee a warm welcome and always worth the 20 minute drive from Tŷ Faenor. Cromlech Pentre Ifan (Approximately 3 miles from Tŷ Faenor)
As well as being a site of great historical interest, this five thousand year old burial chamber is a great spot for a picnic! Just five minutes by car from Tŷ Faenor, the site is well signposted from the main A487 (look for the brown signs), is very well administered and maintained by CADW and offers spectacular view over Newport Bay and Carningli (Mountain of Angels).
Cilgerran Castle (Approximately 10 miles from Tŷ Faenor)
Perched in a dramatic position on a high bluff above the River Teifi is Cilgerran Castle. This dramatic sight has inspired the great landscape artists such as Turner and Richard Wilson. This is a wonderful spot for a picnic and offers the opportunity for visitors to soak up the history of this mainly 13th century fortification or even get a bird’s eye view of the coracle fisherman plying their trade in the gorge below!
Castell Henllys (Approximately 4 miles from Tŷ Faenor)
This Iron Age Fort has been recreated using authentic materials and techniques. About ten minutes by car from Tŷ Faenor, take the main A487 towards Cardigan and, shortly after passing through Felindre Farchog, look out for the brown signs.
Melin Tregwynt (Approximately 14 miles from Tŷ Faenor)
Melin Tregwynt in Abermawr near Fishguard is a delightful white washed wool mill to be found in a remote wooded valley on the Pembrokeshire coast. There has been a mill on this site since the 17th century, when local farmers would bring their fleeces to be spun into yarn and woven into fine wool blankets. Owned by the same family since 1912, it now employs around 20 people in the working mill, shop and café. Call 01348 891225 for opening times and directions.
